Three local students represented Pea River Electric Cooperative on the National Rural Electric Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. June 14-20.
Hayden Sessoms of Ariton High School, Maggie Bush of G.W. Long High School and Nathan Hall of Abbeville High School were part of the 60-plus youth tour delegation from electric co-ops across Alabama.
Nearly 1,800 high schoolers from rural America took part in the week-long youth tour program that allows them to learn about the political process, meet elected officials and gain an up-close understanding of U.S. history.
The Alabama Rural Electric Association coordinates both the statewide and national youth tour programs for the electric cooperatives in Alabama that participate.
